BOMA St. Louis is committed to supporting the St. Louis community through charitable works and contributions.

In 2007, BOMA instituted a Community Outreach Program and designated a charity partner for the next two years.  The first charity partner for 2007 - 2008 was Our Little Haven.  In 2009, a new charity partner was chosen . . . Sunnyhill, Inc.

Sunnyhill Inc. is a non-profit organization that gives hope to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families by offering a variety of services that provide support, independence and respite. Founded in 1977 by a group of family members whose children attended St. Mary’s Special School in St. Louis, Sunnyhill now supports 200 individuals in residential programs and more than 500 adults and children in recreational programs in the St. Louis area.

Sunnyhill Inc. programs teach independent living skills, provide support for individuals living independently, develop independent living facilities, develop assisted living facilities, offer customized camp programs that provide recreation and education, organize “On the Road Adventures” community outings for adults, and prepare and train direct service professionals to be life skills coaches and mentors.

Throughout the year, BOMA provides opportunities for members to volunteer time, funds and/or needed materials to Sunnyhill Inc.  To date, BOMA and its members have donated $700 worth of tools, 10 boxes of toiletry supplies, and almost $3,000 to Sunnyhill.

Sam Weintraub Memorial Scholarship – The $2,000 Sam Weintraub Memorial Scholarship was established to recognize high school and college students who have distinguished themselves academically and socially, and who are valued members in their community.  A request for applications is mailed in January with a March 31 deadline for receipt of applications.  Applicants must be related to or sponsored by a BOMA St. Louis member.

Annual Golf Tournament Raffle – Proceeds from BOMA’s annual golf tournament raffle are donated to worthy organizations such as Sunnyhill, Inc., the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, and Our Little Haven.

Lights A-Cross St. Louis / Blood Drives – BOMA teamed with the American Red Cross for several years to host this event at multiple BOMA member buildings.  Lights A-Cross St. Louis was a highly visible public event, covered widely by TV, radio and print media.  Buildings used their interior lights to form the shape of the American Red Cross – a worldwide symbol of help and hope.  Throughout the month of March, member buildings would sponsor blood drives to make it more convenient to donate blood.

Toys for Tots – BOMA St. Louis sponsored this annual event in conjunction with the U.S. Marine Corps’ annual holiday toy drive.  Toys collected at various BOMA-member office buildings were donated to needy children in the St. Louis area.
